A Couple of Bridges / by John McGurk

Just a quick post to remind you that it is not always this cold out there.  A couple weeks ago I was walking down by the East River downtown and took a couple shots of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges.  They are really quite monumental when walking underneath them, akin to seeing ancient ruins and wondering, how did they make that without electricity and heavy machinery?

There are lots of exhibitions and fun events coming up this winter and spring so stay tuned!

A panoramic of Brooklyn with the two bridges leading into the borough.

The span of the Brooklyn Bridge from this angle is really impressive.

The design of the structural anchor is reminiscent of a medieval castle.

FDR roadway and the span just beginning its each out over the water.
