It is the last week to see Hot Glue Hullaballu at the Hole Gallery in Soho. I have to say that I am genuinely a fan of this gallery and the work they are showing. I spent a good amount of time in Providence and the work of Mat Brinkman, Ara Peterson, and Dearraindrop was getting a lot of attention while I was there. It is great to see them showing with the gallery.

The Dearraindrop and Kenny Scharf collaboration is a psychedelic swamp. A complete mess of assembled toys, geometric paintings, and collages. The first room has a few large paintings that would have made Neal Cassady blush, symbols and characters from the last 50 years of mind bending corporate campaigns is brought to the surface.

The second room is filled with sculptures made of an amazing array of toys and detritus. The walls have geometric abstractions and collages that are alright, but the real action is with the sculptures. The third room is where things get a little weird. From floor to ceiling and back again the room is covered with neon objects of every size, shape, and color. I imagine if you were on psychedelics this room would be horrifying!

Check it out, it runs until the 4th. A couple more shots below:
